Week In Review

This week was definitely filled with a few ups and downs.  Here is a rundown of our past week.

It started with a possible surprise move to Boston for Jeff's job.  It turns out it wasn't the best fit for our family, but it was flattering that Jeff was considered for the promotion.  It definitely would not have been the easiest thing to do with a 2 year old and a newborn, but we were willing if it was the right fit.  Hopefully some other great opportunities come our way.  Did I mention that Jeff qualified for his 6th sales contest and a trip to the Atlantis in December.  Very proud of him.

Friday night after work we took advantage of our neighborhood pool.  We love going after work because it's not as crowded as the weekends and we pretty much get the pool to ourselves.  Austin is getting better and better with his puddle jumper float and can swim around on his own in the big kid pool for awhile.  Of course we are always right there next to him encouraging him to kick kick kick.   Austin's new favorite thing to do in the pool is play basketball with daddy.

Such a happy boy
Next up was our spur of the moment trip to the National Zoo in DC on Saturday morning.  We were all sitting around the table eating breakfast in our pajamas and Jeff brought up the idea.  We decided to get ready in 10 minutes and head out the door!  Hey we won't have as much flexibility with 2 kids and nap schedules so we better take advantage now.   Austin has a definite love for animals so we knew he would love it.  The weather was only in the 80's so it was an awesome morning.

Saturday night I finally got my Maryland crabs.  Great time and yummy food with friends.  One of Jeff's coworkers offered to watch Austin for free, because she loves him so much.  We tried to pay her, but she refused.  How sweet!

Sunday.  It was a doozie.  Not the ending to the weekend that we had hoped for.  Sunday morning I wanted to start organizing baby clothes in the drawers so Jeff offered to take Austin to Frying Pan Park.  Well unfortunately Jeff was carrying Austin around on his shoulders and while putting him down on the ground his foot got caught on Jeff's shirt which lead to a nasty face plant in the gravel.  It was not the phone call that any parent wants to make or receive.  Jeff felt awful.  When they got home we determined that Austin needed to go to the ER for possible stitches on his chin.  It turns out that he only needed a steri strip to hold it together while it healed, but as you can imagine the whole experience was traumatizing for our little man.  It will likely leave a scar which is kind of ironic because Jeff actually has a scar on his chin in the same place.  I am sure Austin will think that is cool one day. Later in the day we found out  that he also jarred one of his molars loose in the fall which meant no hard food for a few days and a trip to the pediatric dentist.  Austin did so well at the dentist and was rewarded with a balloon and a token for the treasure chest.  That is clearly cool to a 23 month old!  It looks like everything will be fine and Austin is proud to tell you about his boo boos on his chin and knee.  So anyways mark this one in the books, our first trip to the ER.  Lets hope we aren't back there anytime soon.
My prize for being brave
