A September Chunky Monkey

I have to make this a quick update, because I am using a public computer since ours took the plunge this week. Anyways so 39 WEEKS WOW! Sometimes it is hard to believe, but then sometimes it feel like forever since I have had a refreshing mojito ;) Yesterday Jeff and I went for my weekly appointment where Austin showed us who is boss and once again I was 0 cm. The good news is that my cervix was more ripe and the baby's head has moved down. Dr T. said that Austin is a big boy and he is estimating about 8.5 lbs as of right now. I don't know why I am surprised, because Jeff and I were both big babies. I was 10 lbs and he was about 8 lbs. So apparently Austin just likes chilling in there eating and sleeping for now. Dr T said that we have a few options for next week, but first he wants me to get an ultrasound on Tuesday to verify Austin's size. I am a little hesitant about this since ultrasounds have not proven to be accurate for some of my friends, but I guess I have no choice but to go with it. We are thinking that if Austin does not come within the next week, then I will be induced next Thursday or Friday. That's right little man you are getting evicted! If I do have to be induced they may also try procedures such as PG Gel and/or Cervadil prior to the induction. Both of these medications are done in the hospital to get the cervix ready for delivery and hopefully help me to start dilating. And if all else fails we always have a C Section. As scary as major surgery can be, I imagine it has to be better then trying to push a baby out that we know won't fit. Many have done it before and I will find a way to make it work for Austin and I. So for now I just sit back and wait for my little guy to get ready for his big debut. Who knows maybe all the excitement and cheering for the VT vs Boise State game on Monday night might entice him to come and join the fun.
