2 Week Appointment

Has it really only been 2 weeks? It seems like he has been with us for months now. This morning I ventured out on my own to take Austin to his 2 week appointment. Jeff wanted to come, but unfortunately he had a lunch meeting in Maryland. Austin and I have gone out by ourselves a few times, but I always get nervous that he is going to have a meltdown and I won't know how to stop the crying. Well we got the doctor a little early and the crying started. It turns out he was a hungry so I fed him in the waiting room. It was quite a task to keep myself covered and get him in the right position. After a little milk we were good to go! The doctor weighed and measured Austin and checked out all his vitals. He is a growing boy weighing in at 10 lbs even and 21.5 inches long putting him in the 75th percentile for both. They also measured his head circumference which was 37 cm and 40th percentile. It's a good feeling to know that we are doing something right. After all of the measurements the doctor put Austin on his stomach and he showed her how he can turn his head from side to side. She said he is a strong boy. The stump is still hanging on by a thread and I think it will be off within the next day or two. I can't say I will miss that little black stump. It will be nice once it is gone, because then Austin can take a normal bath in his tub rather then a sponge bath. So our next appointment will be at 2 months. I am excited to see what the little man will be up to by then. Well it's time for a little afternoon snack and nap. I love this time with him on the couch.
