36 weeks down and only a few more to go! I thought that time would start creeping along at the end, but it really hasn't. I feel like there is always something to do. Yesterday we had our 36 week appointment and Austin is growing right on schedule. I am +34lbs now and most of the weight is now going to Austin as he is growing about a .5lb a week from now until delivery. According to the books that I have read he is about 18-20 inches and 6 lbs as of this week. My doctor said I won't be getting any more ultrasounds so I guess I won't know exactly how big he is until he comes out. Speaking of coming out...yesterday I was leaving target and it was the first time I had the thought that I am ready for him to come out. I mean I still have things to do to get ready, but I am so excited to see this little guy. Before yesterday the thought of taking care of this human being pretty much freaked me out. Things have been getting a little more difficult as the weeks progress on. I am peeing about every 45 minutes now at night so sleeping is hard. Apparently this is God's way of preparing me, but I need to rest up for the real lack of sleep after Austin is born! I feel like my whole body is starting to swell because of the heat wave we are having this week. I picked the coldest winter and hottest summer to have a baby. 2010 will definitely be a year to remember! Also Austin is moving down into my pelvic area so I sometimes will feel a lot of pressure at night. Usually it gets better once he goes to sleep. Even though I am starting to slow down I am thankful that my pregnancy has been pretty easy so far compared to other people I read about online.
Things I have been up to lately to get ready for my little man:
- We bought a new SLR camera so that we can catch every second of Austin's arrival and childhood. After doing research and talking to friends, we decided on the Canon Rebel. We are not skilled photographers, but we hope to learn how to use at least half of the functions on this camera.
- I went shopping for nursing bras and was traumatized. I was quite content with the fact that my boobs have not grown too big throughout this pregnancy, and then I went to Motherhood Maternity. They informed me that I need a 36E because they don't carry DD. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?! These suckers better go back to their normal 34C's after breastfeeding is over.
- The never ending nursery projects. We got 3 of the 4 pictures hung and I am in the process of organizing Austin's clothes by size. The clothes should be done today or tomorrow. Yesterday I bought Austin the cutest "coming home" outfit and hat.
- Jeff has been refinishing the toy chest that my pappap built for Kelly and I when we were kids. Only a few more coats of stain and it should be good to go.
- Lastly, Jeff and I have been trying to see our friends and family as much as possible. We know our lives are going to get hectic this fall with the new baby.
Don't be afraid of the picture above. I am just keeping it real ;)
Next up on the list, packing my bag for the hospital. Who knows when this guy will decide it's time to head out! Dr. T starts internal exams at 37 weeks so I guess we will see next week if I have made any progress.
You look great mama!
