2 Year Preschool Graduation Ceremony

Austin had a busy first year of preschool.  He started in Virginia at Freetown Friends since the cutoff date for school there is September 30th.  We planned on holding Austin back for kindergarten, but it was nice that he could atleast start preschool and be around more children.  When we moved to Severna Park in January we discovered the cut off date is September 1st, which means Austin couldn't technically start the 2 year old class.  We found one school that made an exception for us since Austin had already started preschool in Virginia and he only misses the cutoff by a few days.  Austin loves school so that was a huge blessing for us.  He attended the Wee Center and loved it.  They  taught him his abcs, counting, tons of songs and dance, weather, colors, the pledge of allegiance, prayers and just basic skills like drinking from a regular cup.  On top of that Austin learned how to interact well with other children.  Of course he had incidences where he would tell us "I push the grills (girls) at pre cool (preschool)" but I guess that happens with 2 years olds.  The last day of school Austin's teacher sent home a progress report about Austin.  He got checks in every column except the potty section.  At the bottom it said "Austin shows no interest in using the potty at this time"  Ha!  Figures.  Austin has to be potty trained for his new school by the end of August.  Not sure if that is going to happen, but we will try this summer.  The teacher also typed up a note about my sweet boy.  It made me so proud.

The last day of school the kids also had a big ceremony where the parents were invited.  It was held in the church and each of the 3 two year old classes participated.  They all marched down the aisle and sang several songs for us.  At the end of the performance each kid was presented with a certificate of completion.  Austin was a little overwhelmed by all of the people singing so he barely smiled the whole time, but he didn't cry and he participated.  Jeff, Gaga, and I were cracking up because he was so serious.  After the ceremony we all headed downstairs to the fellowship hall for a cake reception.  There were 3 cakes and we were thrilled to find out that Austin's artwork had been chosen to be on one of the cakes.  My little artist was chosen from about 30 different kids.  Of course we had to get a piece of Austin's cake and he scarfed it down.  After the reception, Jeff and Austin I headed to lunch at Five Guys with our little man. It's one of his favorite restaurants because of the peanuts and grilled cheese.  So proud of this little guy.  He has had a lot of changes this year with the new baby, new house, and new school, and he is handling it all very well for a 2 year old.

Missed the memo on dressing up.  He is wearing a bear on a motorcycle :)
