First Day of Preschool & 36 Weeks

We have had a busy week to say the least.  Austin's birthday party, his real birthday celebration, the first day of preschool, a manager ride along for work and I am 36 weeks pregnant!   Last night as I put Austin to bed we started talking about preschool and he was so excited to fill his backpack.  The hormonal mama in me started getting emotional about my baby growing up.  I know he is only 2 and it's only preschool, but its a sign that he is getting older and more independent.  So today was Austin's first day of preschool.  He will be attending an in home preschool for kids 18 months - 3 years old.  They will work on things like letters, numbers, spelling, songs, weather, listening skills, and just over all socialization skills.  They will even go on a few field trips which I hope to attend.  His buddy Connor has been attending the preschool for the past year and loves it so we had a good recommendation.  We attended orientation last week and he absolutely loved it.  So many new toys and a huge playground.  Jeff and I were there the whole time so I knew it would go well.  The real test was this morning when we had to drop him off for 3 hours on his own.  Jeff wanted to be there for his first day so he went into work late and we spent the morning getting ready together.   We arrived at the school right on time at 8:45.  We knew we needed to wait for Austin's friend Connor to arrive before we could leave so that Austin wouldn't feel alone.  Once he arrived we said our short and sweet goodbye and headed out the door.  Ms Shelley said there were a few tears shed, but the Play Doh table and his new friends seemed to make it all better quickly.  While he was at school I went to my 36 week appointment, but the whole time I was so excited to go and pick him up and see how his day went.  When I got there to pick him up all of the kids were outside playing on the playground.  My little sweaty boy was waiting for me with a huge smile on his face.  I was so happy to see him smiling and having fun.  So day one was a success.  We will see how Friday goes now that he knows the drill and the fact that mommy won't be staying.  I am sure it will get easier with time.  My little social butterfly loves being around kids so I really think he is going to thrive here.  September is definitely a month of change in the Ervick house so let's just hope we all adapt well.

36 Weeks

Total weight gain/loss: +28 lbs total or +1.5 lbs in the last 2 weeks.  Almost to the 160 mark and I am not amused.  I feel big and pictures lately have been confirming how I feel.  I have started swelling a little bit, but not like last time.  My wedding rings are definitely leaving indentation marks on my fingers.

Maternity Clothes?   Dresses everyday.  Definitely a plus of having a warm weather baby.  The baby kicks a ton if I wear shorts or pants, because he is smushed.

Stretch Marks? No

Sleep/Pregnancy Symptoms? .   Up about every hour or 2 peeing.  I guess it's good practice.  Braxton Hicks contractions which are normal around this time.

Best moment this week:  Celebrating Austin's 2nd birthday with family and friends.  Date night with Jeff at Bonefish and the movies.

Food Cravings:   Any junk food and fruit.

Appointment update:  My appointment was short and sweet.  Dr T tested for Group B Strep so I will find out if I have it next week.  Apparently it is quite common in pregnancies and I had it last time with Austin.  They basically just give you an antibiotic during labor to make sure you don't pass it on to the baby during delivery.  The baby's heartbeat sounded great and I actually had a contraction on the table according to Dr T.  It didn't hurt so I suppose it was just a braxton hicks contraction.  Apparently my body is getting ready for the big show!  Next week I start getting internal exams.  Maybe this time I will make some progress before labor actually starts.

What I am looking forward to:  Not having anything to do these next few weeks besides our normal schedules.  This mama needs to relax.
