This summer I remember thinking to myself that Austin will be 15 months old at Christmas this year. Wow that seemed so far away to me and now he we are. Time really is flying by and each month just gets better. Austin is such a little person now with his very own personality. He is honestly such a joy to be around. He is funny and he knows it. As soon as he realizes that people are laughing he just turns it up a notch and basks in all the laughter. Yes he loves to be the center of attention just like his daddy. Austin is generally friendly and smiley to everyone and likes people. We thought his separation anxiety went away, but it has crept back a little. Dr H said that 9 mos and 14-15 months are usually peaks, so I guess that is where we are now. I try to take it as a compliment that he wants to be around his family. He is very social with his peers at gymboree and playgroups. He just moved up to Play and Learn 4 so now he is the youngest in the class and he loves trying to imitate the older kids. Sometimes mommy gets nervous, but I try to remember that he is a boy and there will be bumps and bruises along the way. Austin rarely sits still for long unless it's time to watch Sesame Street which is still his favorite show. That is when we take the chance to steal our cuddles. He has started calling Elmo "Mo" which is so cute. If you ask him where Elmo, Cookie Monster, or Big Bird are, he can point them out. It's so cool to be able to ask Austin a question and see him process it and respond. Well he responds with actions, but not many words just yet. So far his words are MaMa (favorite at the moment), Dada, Gaga, Pa, NaNaNa, Baba, and Mo. I guess he will be a late bloomer in the talking department and Dr H said that receptive language is the most important at this stage so he is just fine. I guess all kids have their "language explosion" at different times. One area where Austin is ahead of the curve is in his eating skills. It is seriously unreal people. I think he eats about the same amount as me. He pretty much likes every thing we give him. We even tried to throw him a curve ball with mushrooms and olives and he liked those too! I would say his least favorite food is cooked carrots, which I can't blame him, because I hate cooked carrots. I really enjoy cooking for Austin so I hope this all keeps up. Austin is still on the same sleeping schedule, 7:00pm-6:00 or 6:30am. He is still teetering back and forth between 1 nap and 2 naps, but I think the switch will happen in the next week or 2. When Austin isn't eating or sleeping here are a few more of his favorite things to do: read books, play outside at the playground, vacuum cleaners, hoses, empty my kitchen cabinets, put things into containers, being chased, bath time, cell phones, and anything that has to do with Moxie. This happy little boy is the light of our life. It seriously just keeps getting better. It is simply amazing to watch something that we created grow in to what he has already become.
