Slowing It Down

This past week one of my great friends Courtenay gave birth to her baby girl Caroline.  On Sunday I went to visit them in the same hospital where I gave birth to Austin just 14 months ago.  Seeing this small, helpless, and sweet little baby made me start thinking about how it all goes by so fast.  It seems like just yesterday Austin was a newborn, then he was learning to roll, then he was sitting up, then he learned to crawl and now he is walking and running everywhere.  With every stage and milestone there was more independence.  I remember with each of those milestones I was so excited for the next big thing to happen.  It's so easy to get caught up in comparing Austin to his peers and trying to rush him to that next stage or milestone, but I am learning that soon enough he will get there.  So for now I am just going to slow it down a bit and relish in each of these moments as they come.
