This is a modern day proverb that I constantly try to remind myself of now that I have an ever changing toddler. I am a planner by nature and some days just don't go as planned. Between molars, transitions to 1 nap, colds, daylight savings time, and increasing mobility and independence my days are kind of up in the air as far as a schedule goes lately. The one thing I can say though is that I at least attempt some type of schedule everyday, because I know kids thrive on schedules and knowing what to expect. Last week when the time changed my little man did not like the change in schedule at all. I thought to myself "one hour difference how bad can it be?". What it meant was that he was begging for food an hour early, going to bed an hour early, refusing naps, and waking up at 5:30am. As I felt myself struggling to stay awake and stay calm I tried to remind myself of this proverb. Parenting is constantly about evolving and finding out what works best for your family. Soon we will all figure out our new "normal". In the meantime, I will try to be more flexible.
