Vroom Vroom

This past weekend the 3 of us made the trip to New Jersey. Jeff participated in the 24 hours of Lemons race for the third time. This year the race was held in Millville, NJ at the New Jersey Motorsports Complex. Jeff and his team of 5 other guys, Victors of War, built this car a few years ago and the catch is that the car and engine can not be worth more then $500, hence "Lemons". This does not include the safety equipment and tires. Safety first! I have never been to the race, because it was previously held in Connecticut, so I had no idea what to expect. On Sunday after a great weekend with the in laws, we all headed down to the racetrack. The place was huge and this race was legit! I couldn't even see the whole track, because it was so big and the cars were going about 90-100 mph. It's an endurance race so the guys rotate drivers about every hour. When they aren't driving they are wearing headsets and talking to the driver and waiting in the pit for mechanical problems or fueling. The team did awesome and place 7th out of 65 teams. Jeff had the fastest lap time on the team so of course he was happy about that. It was great to finally get to see this race since he talks about it all year. Jeff is already anticipating the day when Austin can join them for the weekend full of grease and exhaust.
