Sappy the tree

Our first Christmas as a married couple is about starting family traditions. Jeff has had many jobs in his life and one of them was working at a Christmas tree farm. As I blogged about earlier he is adamant about having a real tree. The first tradition we have decided to start is going to cut down our tree every year at a local Christmas tree farm. The weather was exceptional on Saturday and we ended up getting 4 inches of snow in Northern VA, which is unheard of this early in the season. The snow along with all day Christmas music on 97.1 put everyone in the mood for Christmas! The Geary's met us at the farm and it was so cool to be a part of Connor's first Christmas. He was quite a trooper in his cute little snow outfit. After about 30 minutes of searching we all found our trees and the boys cut them down and dragged them back to the car. After the farm the 5 of us headed over to Old Brogue in Great Falls to warm up and eat lunch.
Later in the day after the tree dried off we started to decorate. Jeff hung the lights and I did the ornaments. Let me tell you there is one major difference between real trees and fake trees when it comes to hanging ornaments...real trees HURT! My fingers are still cut up from the pine needles poking me. Besides that we had an awesome night of decorating, watching football and drinking wine by the fire. 17 DAYS UNTIL CHRISTMAS!
