Take me back! As I sit here on a conference call for work I am
truly missing the white sand, crystal blue water, and relaxation of Aruba. Jeff and I had never been to the
Caribbean before so it was nice to experience it for the first time together. My mom and Mark were kind enough to give us a week of their timeshare, so we stayed at the
Casa del Mar which was in the
mid rise district. We spent just about everyday laying around the
palapa and going to happy hour (12pm) at our beach bar Matthews.
There are tons of amazing restaurants in Aruba so we went out to eat just about every night. Our favorite place was the Flying Fishbone. The restaurant was about 20 minutes away from most of the hotels, but it was so worth the trip. Our table was right on the edge of the water and the sunset was beautiful. Apparently little kids don't wear clothes on the island, because there was a little naked boy running around on the dock next to the restaurant while we were eating. We were cracking up!

If we weren't eating or laying on the beach we were in the casino gambling and watching the Capitals (too bad they lost). We didn't come home with any extra money, but we did learn how to play craps. Now on the to the dramatic part of the trip. As most of you all know Jeff is a huge fan of
ATV's, minibikes, motorcycles
ect. I thought I would be the nice wife and plan an ATV tour since we had done it before in Mexico and it was fun. Well I didn't know that in Aruba the ATV tours are on very rocky mountains overlooking the water. I was fine for awhile until I almost ran off the mountain and then my ATV got stuck on multiple large rocks where I was spinning my wheels and almost had the ATV fall on me. Thank God Jeff knew what he was doing and rescued me several times. Don't get me wrong the sights were awesome, but let's just say I won't be driving my own ATV for awhile. I am happy to ride on the back of Jeff's ATV;)
Despite the one day of drama the trip was amazing and we will always have great memories of our honeymoon. We are hoping to one day buy a timeshare in Aruba so we can return every year. In the meantime we would love to take a vacation in the Carribean with friends next year so let us know if you are in!
So fun! Chad and I were talking about how much we need to do a fun trip with all of the couples next year...we were partial to the Mexican Caribbean (our honeymoon ;-) but you know me, I love all of it! Count us in!
