She is Here!

Elle Kimberly Ervick made her debut on Tuesday, October 20, 2015 so let's start from the beginning. The night before she was born I was putting Austin to bed and he told me that he was tired of waiting for Elle to come out and that she needs to come out tomorrow so I better plan on going to the hospital.  Well she was listening because at 3:00 am I woke up to some stabbing pains, not really contractions.   Over the next few hours they started to get stronger and around 7:00am I thought it was probably a good idea to start texting my mom and Mark to come over so I could head to the hospital.  My contractions were about 5 mins apart, but not super strong yet.  When we got to the hospital I was sent to triage to monitor things.  I was 2 centimeters and the contractions were 3 minutes apart, but they said I needed to progress more or I had to go home so they made me walk the hallways for an hour.  There was no way I was going home when my contractions were 3 mins apart and this was my third baby.   Jeff went downstairs to get some food with my mom and I started walking in circles around the hallway.  Soon things got very painful and I sent Jeff a text to come back upstairs because I couldn't keep walking.  The nurse finally checked me again and I was 3 cms and the contraction were 2 minutes apart.  They moved me to a room and I was begging for pain meds but they told me I had to get blood drawn and an IV so it would be about 30-45 minutes longer. The pain was like nothing I had ever experienced before and I kept telling the nurses that this did not feel like my other births.  I honestly didn't know how I would make it 5 more minutes let alone 30.   About 10 minutes after I got into my room I went to give a urine sample and I felt like I was going to throw up.  I should have known that something was up because that usually means it's time to push, but they had just checked me and I was 3 centimeters and my water had not broken.   Well about 10 minutes later as I was laying in the bed I had one very strong contraction and my water broke and I screamed that she was coming out.  Since no doctor was in the room, the nurse delivered our sweet girl.  It was an out of body experience and I couldn't believe that I was delivering my baby with no pain medicine and no doctor, but I was just so relieved it was almost over.  God must have known I was at my limit and so my body went from 3 centimeters to 10 centimeters in just 30 minutes.   At 10:33am my sweet baby girl was born at 8 lbs 1 oz and 20.5 inches.  She was calm and perfect.  Her head was not misshapen  since she came out so fast and her hair was light brown and eyes were grey/blue.  Jeff held her for awhile and played their song "I saw God Today" by George Strait while I got cleaned up.  My mom and Kelly came in to meet her shortly afterwards and they couldn't believe what had just happened.  It was all so surreal, but the pain was totally worth it.

Over the next few hours we were transferred to our postpartum room and we anxiously awaited the boys visit.  When they arrived they were so excited to meet her but a little weirded out by the fact that I was in a hospital bed.  I moved to the rocking chair and we all held the baby and she gave them their big brother presents.   I was so happy to have everyone together.  Over the next 24 hours we enjoyed visits from family and friends and then it was time to head home.  Although I knew it would be chaos when I got home, I was ready.  Ervick party of FIVE!
