Christmas 2014

I have said it before, but this Christmas was really special because both boys understood what was happening and they were genuinely excited about it.  After days and days of counting down it was finally Christmas Eve.  Austin in particular could not contain his excitement.  As usual we spent Christmas Eve at Gaga and Pa's house.  The older cousins had the best time ripping through presents and showing each other what they got.  Landon and Everly were not as much into actually opening the presents, so Austin and Jax helped him out.  After presents we had a yummy lasagna dinner and relaxed with the family.  We were all spoiled by the family and went home with our hearts and hands full.

The next morning we woke up around 7:30 and headed into the hall to find the stockings waiting.  Austin and Landon were excited to find candy (which we had to start eating) and lots of surprise packs.   Soon it was time to head downstairs and check out what Santa left.  The kids were so excited!!  Austin went through his presents pretty quickly and then it was time to help Landon again.  Austin's favorite presents were the Ninja Turtle guys Be Bop, Rocksteady, and April O'Neil.  He also loved the MagnaTiles.  Landon's favorite presents were his car transporter and his weed wacker.  Austin is starting to learn about giving now and so he personally wrapped up some of his favorite toys for Landon, Jeff and me.  He was so excited about it and I thought it was sweet.  Jeff spoiled me with lots of new NCSU gear since mine was getting ratty and also an awesome sketch of Chesapeake Bay Beach Club where we got married.  Jeff got a new watch from the boys and some clothes from me.  Overall we all made out well.  I really try not to overdo the Christmas presents for the kids, because I want the holiday to be more than that.  To me it's about making memories, celebrating, and having fun with family, but I also remember what it's like to be a kid.  So glad I get to relive that fun all over again!

Giving Landon his special presents from Austin.

The rest of the morning we spent playing with toys and then after nap we headed over to pop pop and mom mom's house.  With 8 grandkids under 4 years old, it's always a party.  The kids opened presents and played for hours.  The adults enjoyed yummy food, drinks and conversation.  We had a great time and it was a fun way to end Christmas day.
