2104 Summer Vacations

So far this spring/summer we have been on four really fun vacations.  The first vacation was with my dad's side of the family at Deep Creek Lake.  There were 10 adults (2 prego ladies) and 6 kids (under 4 years old) in one big house on the lake.  The weather was cool so we spent the days playing with toys, exploring outside and swimming in the indoor pool.  At night we made big group dinners and had campfires.  Being part of a big family is especially fun on vacation.

Our second vacation was an adult only vacation to Cancun in May.  This is the third time the Shinaberry's have invited us to stay at their place and it's always a fantastic time.  Days by the pool/beach and nights at fancy non kid friendly restaurants.  It's a treat for sure and we are thankful we have grandparents to watch the kids so we can have relaxing trips like this every once in awhile.

Our third vacation was in June.  We went to Dewey Beach, DE with my mom, Mark, and the Housers.  The first part of the vacation we spent celebrating my mom's 60th birthday.  It was adult only and so we spent much of our time at the Starboard sipping on orange crushes.  Gaga had a great time celebrating with her friends and family.  The next day we picked up the kids and brought them down to the beach for the rest of the week.  We had great weather and spent most of our days on the beach or shopping at local surf shops. Austin wasn't afraid of the ocean this year so all three boys spent hours running from the waves and digging in the sand.  Everly spent her time watching the boys and digging in the sand.   I have a feeling next year she will be right behind them.  At night we went to the Rehobeth boardwalk to walk around, ride the rides, and eat yummy food.  After a fun week at the beach we were all sad to go home, but we look forward to many more family vacations in the future.

We spent our fourth vacation this summer with some of our best buddies.  Last minute Courtenay and I decided to plan a weekend getaway to Ocean City for our families.  The kids get along so well and we knew they would have an awesome time.  We stayed at the Paradise Plaza right on the boardwalk and it was perfect for what we wanted to accomplish, close to things to do and right on the beach.  We lucked out and got two adjoining rooms, one for the kids and one for the adults.  They loved that they could have a sleep over and we loved that we didn't have to go to bed at 9pm.  We spent our days on the beach and the evenings on the boardwalk eating junk food, playing games, and riding on rides.

Next up is our first family vacation o Disney World in October.  I think I may be plain crazy for taking a 2 and 4 year old to Disney World, but we are really looking forward to it.
