Landon 13 months

This kid is such a character.  I feel like he is learning stuff at a rapid rate these days and I need to try and document at least some of it.
  • He is a ham.  Lately Landon has learned that he is funny so he plays it up.  He feeds on others giving him attention and sometimes he will do a ridiculous fake laugh.  The funny thing about the laugh is that it's the exact same one that Austin did at this age.  Must be a family trait.   Nothing can beat his real belly laugh.  He has had this great laugh since he was about 5 months old and it's adorable.  Strangers and friends comment on it all the time.  Here is a small example.

  • He repeats a lot.  Austin was not an early talker so this is new to me.  Landon repeats a lot of single words that we say.  Mama (or MA! in his Jersey accent), Dada, Aust, Gaga, Meow, Moo (cow), Quack (duck), Ruff Ruff (dog), Neigh (horse), Choo Choo, Shoe, No No No, More (Mo), Baba, Nana (banana), Bath, Hi Ya (Austin always says this when playing Ninja Turtles), Ank Ou (Thank You). He also understands what we are saying, even if he can't say it back.  If you give him an instruction like "go throw your diaper away" he will go and do it.
  • He understands a sequence of events.  The other day our nanny Nanci saw him pooping, but she gave him him privacy until he was done.  She then watched him go over to the basket, pick up his diapers and changing pad and brought them over to her.  I guess he knew it was time for a new diaper.  My smart little guy.
  • He knows how to work the system.  This is not always a good thing.  Austin can play rough with him and sometimes Landon likes it and sometimes he doesn't.  Landon knows a fake or exaggerated cry will get attention.  He can be an actor at times.
  • He knows what he wants.  We tried to switch his milk from a bottle to a cup, but he is not having it.  He takes a sip and tosses it.   Meanwhile he drinks water from a cup just fine.  KIDS!  I guess I need to be tough, but the bottle doesn't bother me.  Second time around ;)
  • He loves to read.  Landon is really into reading books.  Austin is the same way so this makes me really happy.  We have been reading to him before bed for about 6 months, but he never really paid attention much.  Ever since he started walking things have changed.  Before bed he will walk over to the book shelf in his room, pick out a book, and come over and sit in my lap.  I love this cuddle time before bed.  His favorites are Where is Baby's Puppy, Where is My Belly Button, and Very Hungry Caterpillar.
  • He Cuddles.  Landon has always been a very busy boy and didn't sit still much.  He is still very busy, but now he lets me hold him for awhile especially when he is tired.  Every once in awhile I rock him to sleep with his head on my chest.  He loves when I sing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star to him.  It's heaven for me.
  • His brother is his best friend.  Austin is everything a brother should be and Landon is a lucky kid to have him.  They love, share, fight, rough house, and genuinely look out for each other.
  • He loves his mama and dada.  We are still his favorite and we love every bit of it.
